Mizzou Lacrosse picked as preseason #1

The University of Missouri Men’s Lacrosse team has recently been ranked #1 in its conference for the upcoming 2011 season by CollegeLax.us. Head Coach Keith Euker had this to say about the preseason ranking, “While it’s nice to hear that expectations are high, we have yet to play a game. I was as surprised as anyone to see the rankings. So we’re not getting too caught up in it. We know that this only puts a huge target on our backs and that we now need to stay focused more than ever and not get too ahead of ourselves.”

Co-captain Josh Nelson is excited about the ranking. “To be recognized in that way was a real surprise, as we haven’t yet proven anything,” he said. “That being said, everyone in the program is very excited and eager to get the season started. We will continue to work hard and push ourselves everyday. We expect to be in Denver this spring, and this (preseason ranking) will only motivate us to work that much harder.”

The team has continued to stay focused and prepare for this spring despite the bad weather keeping them from taking the field. The Tigers will face their first test in a scrimmage against Washington University at home on Saturday, February 12.
