CUMMING, Georgia – The University of Missouri men’s lacrosse team lost to the University of Central Florida Sunday. With the loss, Mizzou finished the road trip to Florida and Georgia 0-3.

The Tigers (2-4) started off hot early, scoring first after freshman Grant Long (Wayzata, MN, Wayzata) put one in the back of the net. Long would add on a second goal later in the game to lead the team with two scores.

However, the Knights came back scoring 9 out of the next ten goals. While the Missouri fought back, it wasn’t enough as the squad fell to the SELC program by 8. Senior attack Grant Pieper led all Missouri players with three points (1 goal, 2 assists), extending his point streak to 30-consecutive games, the second-best in school history. The five goals are also the most for the Tigers in a road game this season and is the most goals in a game on the team’s current road trip.

Penalties hurt Missouri again in this game, as Central Florida scored most of its goals during the Tiger’s six penalties (5:30).

Junior captain Matt Needham (Northbrook, IL, Glenbrook North) stood on his head in goal, posting a massive 21 saves in the cage, the most for a Tiger goalie all season.

Missouri will be off until Friday, March 4, when they will host Washington University-St. Louis as part of a two-game homestand.
