The University of Missouri lacrosse community extends their condolences to the University of Virginia lacrosse community.
UVA women’s lacrosse star Yeardley Love, 22, was found dead in her apartment. Her former boyfriend, UVA men’s lacrosse player George Huguley, also 22, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the case.
The university’s official statement included these comments:
“Although we know nothing other than what appears in the Charlottesville Police Department’s more recent statement, this death moves us to deep anguish for the loss of a student of uncommon talent and promise, and we express the university’s and our own sympathy for Yeardley’s family, team-mates, and friends.”
Both the men’s and women’s programs at UVA are top-rated and Love’s death comes just as both teams are preparing for NCAA tournaments.
We join the Love family in mourning their loss and wish both teams the best during the tournaments.
