Blisters and twisted ankles, all for a good cause

Donning high-heeled shoes made especially for men, members of the University of Missouri Men’s Lacrosse Team were out in support of ending sexual violence.  Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is an annual event in which men “walk the walk” then “talk to talk” in order to help raise awareness and understanding of domestic violence and sexual assault  against women and men.

The event was sponsored by the MU Panhellenic Association. According to Michelle Hanko, vice president of public relations for the Panhellenic Association, the purpose of the event is to raise money for The Shelter in Columbia, a program run by Comprehensive Human Services.

Started in 2001, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes: International Men’s March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault and Gender Violence has grown each year. So far this year there are 173 walks scheduled.
