Mizzou wraps 2019 season at 7-5 after close loss to Indiana in Conference Playoffs

COLUMBIA, MO – The University of Missouri Men’s Lacrosse program had a tough draw in the UMLC Conference Tournament pitting them against Indiana in Round 1 this past weekend. Mizzou lost at Indiana 11-5 when they played through a blizzard in Indianapolis earlier this year. Mizzou would travel shorthand on the trip but it didn’t stop them from giving everything they got. Senior Attackman Noah Iversen would put up 6 goals and 2 assist against the Hoosiers while Junior goalkeeper Connor Graves would post a stellar performance as well in the net making 21 saves on 32 shots faced. Despite the great showing by these two, the Tigers would come up just short. Having tied the game for the first time since the start at 10-10 with 50 seconds remaining in the 4th, Indiana managed to put 1 last shot in before time expired to take the victory 11-10.

Overall, it’s been a heck of a season for the Tigers. Despite losing 3 in a row to end the season, the Tigers showed a marked improvement from the 2018 season. The offense put in 13.33 GPG, nearly double their 2018 production while the defense kept teams to a single digit average at 9.4 GAPG, a 3.93 average goal differential. Iversen ends the year leading the country in points for the second time in his career posting 45 goals and 43 assist and sophomore attackman Jack Eagan finished his first year back playing lacrosse after a couple years off due to injury by putting in 32 goals and 9 assist. Midfielders Nick Pisani and Alex Shali were a two man machine from the midfield, as Pisani tallied 19 goals and 15 assist with Sahli tallying 17 goals and 11 assist. In the net Connor Graves finished with 164 saves and 98 GA for an impressive save percentage of 62.8%.

The tigers graduate 9 seniors over all on the year, but with a class of 18 already joining the family next season, the Tigers aren’t rebuilding but reloading with more ammo then ever. Thank you to all the parents and fans who supported the Tigers throughout the year. Stay tuned for more information on future events.
