On Saturday March 16th, the Tigers took on conference rival Illinois in Lisle, IL.
Both teams were unable to generate much offense in the first half of the game, with a halftime score of 2-1 in favor of the Illini. After halftime, the Illini came out firing, putting up 5 goals in the third period and holding the Tigers to zero. Going into the fourth quarter, the score stood 7-1. The Tigers fought back in the fourth, but were held short, only scoring 3 goals. The Illini added 1 in the fourth the bring the final score to 8-4.
It was a tough loss for the Tigers, but they will need to rebound quickly as they take on #10 Minnesota Duluth next. The Duluth game is the start of a tough spring break trip for the tigers, as they play two very talented teams in Minnesota and Minnesota State Mankato too. The Tigers will look to bounce back from their first loss of the year and make a statement over spring break. Pictures coming soon!
