Tim Adams and Matt Vollmer both earned hat tricks Saturday night in Missouri’s 11-9 victory over Iowa. Adams had a total of five points and Vollmer had four in the Tigers’ second conference win.The Tigers are now 6-2 overall and 2-0 in conference.
Iowa struck first, with a goal in the first few minutes of the game. Missouri went on a tear, scoring the next seven goals in the half. Goalie Dan Shim and the defense held off the Hawkeyes until the final 18 seconds of half when they scored their second goal.
The Tigers scored quickly after the halftime break, with Matt Ward scoring off a feed from Gerry Leonard. But penalties and a lull in scoring let Iowa slowly close the gap in the score. Iowa scored five goals in the third quarter while Missouri scored three, for a score of 10-6.
Missouri tightened up in the fourth quarter and Gerry Leonard scored his second goal to notch the win.
Josh Nelson had two assists while Ryan Biek and Matt Jaspering added one goal each in the game.
Missouri has three games left for the year, including two conference games (at Kansas on April 20 and at Wisconsin-Madison on April 28) and a scrimmage with Lindenwood on April 24.
